Ricardo B. Contreras, PhD.
Ricardo has an undergraduate degree in sociocultural anthropology from the Universidad de Chile and master’s and doctoral degrees in applied anthropology from the University of South Florida. He is the president of Ethnographica Consulting, a company that provides research, training and consultation services. As a consultant with ATLAS.ti Scientific Software Development GmbH, Ricardo directs the company’s training center, its office in the Americas and serves as a bridge between the international community of users and software developers. He has trained thousands of students, academics and researchers in the use of ATLAS.ti in the United States and internationally.

Susanne Friese, PhD.
Susanne started working with computer software for qualitative data analysis in 1992. She teaches qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) at universities around the world and has served as consultant on numerous qualitative data analysis projects. Dr. Friese is one of the principal contributors to the ATLAS.ti User’s Manual and other didactic material. The third edition of her book Qualitative Data Analysis with ATLAS.ti (SAGE Publications 2014) will be published in 2017 and will cover ATLAS.ti Mac and ATLAS.ti 8 for Windows.
Susanne started working with computer software for qualitative data analysis in 1992. She teaches qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) at universities around the world and has served as consultant on numerous qualitative data analysis projects. Dr. Friese is one of the principal contributors to the ATLAS.ti User’s Manual and other didactic material. Paul Mihas, M.A.
Paul is the Assistant Director of Education and Qualitative Research at the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, he regularly advises graduate students and faculty on qualitative methods, software, and strategies for analysis. As a qualitative analysis consultant with ResearchTalk (since 2001), Mihas has lectured on qualitative methods and strategies for analysis at several universities, including the University of Puerto Rico, Howard University, and Temple University. He has also served as faculty at the annual Qualitative Research Summer Intensive and a mentor at ResearchTalk’s Qualitative Data Analysis Camps.

Trena Paulus, PhD
Trena is a Professor of Qualitative Research Methods at the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA, USA. She is co-author of Digital Tools for Qualitative Research (Sage Publications, 2014.) Dr. Paulus has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics related to qualitative research, language-based methodologies for investigating online conversations, computer-mediated communication and online learning. She regularly consults and provides workshops on the use of digital tools in a variety of research contexts in the USA and internationally. Her new book, Researching Learning, Insight, and Transformation in Online Talk, under contract with Routledge and co-authored with Dr. Alyssa Wise of NYU, is due out in 2018.

Christina is a researcher and software trainer. She manages the CAQDAS Networking Project (CNP), based in the Department of Sociology in the University of Surrey, UK. She is also co-director of the University of Surrey’s Day Courses in Social Research programme and the co-founder of Qualitative Data Analysis Services (QDAS). She is co-author with Ann Lewins of Using Software in Qualitative Research: A Step-by-Step Guide, Sage Publications, 2014 and is currently working with Nicholas Woolf on writing-up and implementing Five-Level QDA, a method for learning and teaching CAQDAS packages powerfully, whatever the methodology, software package or teaching mode.

Since 1998 Nick has instructed several hundred ATLAS.ti workshops throughout North America, and has taught graduate courses in qualitative methods at the University of Iowa and other institutions. He was principal data analyst for numerous qualitative research and evaluation studies in diverse areas, including family medicine, public health, education, and management. Nick developed Five-Level QDA to help researchers more quickly gain the expertise of long-term users of qualitative software. His book, co-authored with Dr. Christina Silver, Qualitative Analysis Using ATLAS.ti: The Five-Level QDA Method, will be published by Routledge in 2017.
